When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Barwick and his staff utilize the latest in technology to enhance the quality and fit for your dental care.
Dr. Barwick uses high powered MAGNIFICATION LOUPES to enhance the precision of his patient care. Dentistry is surgery on a very small scale, so using magnifying loupes enables us to create dental restorations with incredibly precise fit and finish.
Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Dr. Barwick utilizes Digital Radiography in order to minimize, by about 50 percent, the amount of radiation exposure time compared to traditional radiographs: this results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you. In addition, digital radiography allows us to capture diagnostic information more accurately and more quickly. We are able to see cavities better, and we are able to easily transfer the images to specialists or insurance companies.
Digital X-rays are more precise, since we view the enlarged image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a tiny film to the light.
Laser dentistry is one of dentistry's latest advances. The laser delivers energy in the form of light. Depending on the intended result, this energy travels at different wavelengths and is absorbed by a "target." In our office Dr. Barwick has been trained to use the Odyssey™ Soft Tissue Diode Laser for soft tissue procedures. Often no local anesthesia is required; frequently it eliminates the need for suturing and healing is much faster.
Lasers can also be used to diagnose cavities. Using the Diagnodent™ Laser Cavity Detector, hidden decay can be found in teeth in early stages, and in some cases the decay can be small enough to be repaired without the need for anesthesia.
Intra-Oral Camera
Dr. Barwick and his clinical team utilize Intra-Oral Camera Technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intra-oral camera is a very small camera which allows us to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, so we can accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, enlarged images, a patient can also see details of their own condition that are much “larger than life!” The intra-oral camera also enables our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatment. These images can be printed for you, or e-mailed to other specialists, our dental laboratory or insurance companies.
Electric Handpiece
Most dentists use air-driven "handpieces" (the dental term for "drills"). For the most precise aspects of restorative procedures, we are able to use an electric handpiece. This results in extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration. This will bring more comfort to you as well. With a more precise tool, there is less vibration and less noise.
